The designer name “S’aic’iya” Design is referring to a custom among the Lakota where adorning one’s self or adorning a family member or relative for certain occasions; naming ceremony, honoring ceremony, etc.
As an artist for many year with work in museum and private collections as well as an art competition successor, James combines visual art with fashion design that is rooted in Lakota cultural foundation, it is most evident that such inspiration is applied to the creativity of fashion.
Collectively, utilizing art and customs to share, teach and pass on the Lakota life ways and culture.
As well as empowering and creating space through native fashion.
