A mixed-Secwépemc artist relocated to Calgary from the east kootenays, Miesha Louie is best known for her garage rock project Miesha and The Spanks. Their latest album "Unconditional Love In Hi-Fi" (Mint Records) encompasses self-love in the struggle for identity, sharing Miesha's own transition into motherhood, and giving voice to her family's history with residential schools and how that impacted her own connection to culture.
Miesha and The Spanks have toured relentlessly in Canada and abroad, with chart-topping albums and singles on Earshot!, Mediabase Alternative, NACC, CBC Radio 3, and the Indigenous Music Countdown. Miesha has worked with Canadian legend Ian Blurton, as well as Danny Farrant of The Buzzcocks, and has had original music placed in Rutherford Falls, Acting Good, My Dead Mom, Fakes, + more.
Miesha is a Keychange Artist, Downie Wenjack Artist Ambassador, and has been curating youth music development programming for BAM! Camp Calgary (Building Allied Music - formerly Girls Rock Camp Calgary) for over a decade.
Miesha and The Spanks' next release "Visions" was recorded by Juno-award winning engineer Hill Kourkoutis and is currently in production.
