Otakwan Acahkos Iskwiw, also known as "Evening Star Woman," is a traditional Métisse woman from the Métis Nation (Otipemisiwak) of St. Louis, Saskatchewan. Her main family lines include Boucher, Bremner, L'Ésperence, Guernon, Taylor, Hogue, and Prince.
She is recognized for her advocacy and cultural work, including:
Protecting sacred sites and promoting Native stewardship: She educates on the importance of these efforts.
Sharing personal narratives: She discusses her lived experience and inner wisdom, including being a "cycle breaker" and learning self-love.
Homeschooling her son and volunteering in her community.
Collaborating with photographers: She has worked with artists like Shane Balkowitsch, Jonathan Yazzie, and Jillian Waterman for various shoots and events.
Before relocating, Otakwan focused her education and career with the Ministry of Environment, Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development, and IPAC Engineering Firm.
Currently Otakwan is a well established international Indigenous model with over 100 modeling credits.
