The Indigenous Fashion Collective Announces 2nd Annual Indigenous Fashion Gala

October 11, 2025 | Autry Museum, Los Angeles
Theme: Matriarchs of the Future: Sovereign Style

Los Angeles — May 20, 2025 — The Indigenous Fashion Collective is proud to announce its 2nd Annual Indigenous Fashion Gala, taking place on October 11, 2025, at the iconic Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles. This year’s theme, Matriarchs of the Future: Sovereign Style, dares to imagine the future through the eyes of our matriarchs—women and femmes who lead with wisdom, resilience, and fierce creativity.

Rapper Taboo (Black Eyed Peas) and model/activist Quannah Chasinghorse return as co-chairs of this year’s event, two changemakers at the forefront of Native American representation, advocacy, and cultural power.

“Designers are invited to channel ancestral strength and futuristic imagination. This is not just couture—it’s culture,” said Sarah Eagle Heart, co-founder and executive director of The Indigenous Fashion Collective.

The evening will highlight Indigenous designers and artists from across Turtle Island (as many Native communities call North America), using fashion as a powerful medium to tell stories of reclamation, resistance, and brilliance. Matriarchs of the Future celebrates bold visionaries reclaiming space in fashion, culture, and sovereignty—envisioning a future where Native leadership and aesthetics shape the world around us.

Adding to the synergy of the evening, the Autry Museum of the American West is currently showcasing the exhibition “Future Imaginaries: Indigenous Art, Fashion, Technology,” a groundbreaking display that explores Indigenous futurism through cutting-edge design and innovation. The exhibit serves as the perfect complement to the gala, bridging tradition and future-thinking in stunning form.

“This is Indigenous futurism in its highest form: unapologetic, unstoppable, and stunning. A visual story of sovereignty styled for the next generation,” adds Lillian Sparks Robinson, co-founder of The Indigenous Fashion Collective.

The Indigenous Fashion Gala is more than an event. It is a cultural gathering, a creative revolution, and an invitation to witness the future through Native eyes. Last year’s featured designers included:  Tierra Alysia (Kashia Pomo), Jason Baerg (Red River Métis), Orlando Dugi (Diné), Lesley Hampton (Temagami First Nation), Jontay Kahm (Plains Cree), Kayla Lookinghorse (Standing Rock Sioux Tribe), and Patricia Michaels (Taos Pueblo).

“Indigenous fashion is a force—driven by entrepreneurs who are turning culture into industry and creativity into legacy,” said Twila True, co-founder of The Indigenous Fashion Collective.
